  • Calcium Supplement and Colorectal Adenomas

  • A New Treatment for Colics

    Since treatment of the baby’s colics is always full of problems, some Italian authors have performed a not blind randomized study, treating 83 breast-fed babies presenting colics (more than three hours of daily cry for more than 3 days a week) through a probiotic (Lactobacillus Reuteri: 5 drops once a day 30 minutes after breastfeeding or through dimeticone (15 drops twice a day, always beastfeeding), for 28 days.

  • Klebsiella oxytoca as a Causative Organism of Antibiotic-Associated Hemorrhagic Colitis

    In this study, six patients received a diagnosis of antibiotic-associated hemorrhagic colitis and were negative for Clostridium difficile; five were positive for K. oxytoca. In a rat model, treatment with amoxicillin-clavulanate plus inoculation with K. oxytoca resulted in hemorrhagic colitis, showing that K. oxytoca can cause antibiotic-associated hemorrhagic colitis.
