Producing a rich, personalized Web-based consultation tool for plastic surgeons and patients is challenging. A computer tool has been developed and validated allowing individual reconstruction and simulation of 3-dimensional (3D) soft tissue from ordinary digital photos of breasts.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today announced a possible association between saline and silicone gel-filled breast implants and anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL), a very rare type of cancer. Data reviewed by the FDA suggest that patients with breast implants may have a very small but significant risk of ALCL in the scar capsule adjacent to the implant.

In the spring of 1970, nearly 40 years ago, the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) held its first international symposium. Of the more than 350 presentations, arguably the most historic one was provided by a lesser known surgeon from Zagreb, Yugoslavia, Ivo F. Padovan, who offered a 10-minute presentation on the "External Approach in Rhinoplasty (Decortication)."1(pp143-146) A revolutionary shot in the rhinoplasty world had been fired, but it was neither heard nor appreciated immediately.
