Eating disorders are commonly occurring illnesses and have many associated complications, including high rates of suicide. The focus of treatment development has been on psychotherapy, particularly the use of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). The use of CBT in bulimia nervosa has received an "A" evidence grade in the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence guidelines, although CBT has shown less clear evidence of benefit for anorexia nervosa.

We know that the use of protonic pump inhibitors (PPIs) prevents the occurrence of gastric and duodenal ulcers caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), but even if aspirin has the same damaging action on gastroduodenal mucosa, up to now the possibility to use these drugs also in this particular kind of prevention has not been deeply studied yet.
