The US$ 20 million project, funded by the Republic of Korea, will benefit five million people in the DPR Korea.

In patients with moderate- and high-risk acute coronary syndromes (ACS) who undergo an early, invasive treatment strategy, current guidelines recommend administration of platelet glycoprotein IIb/IIIa (Gp IIb/IIIa) inhibitors, either upstream to all patients prior to angiography or deferred for selective use in the catheterization laboratory just prior to angioplasty. The preferred approach is undetermined.

When members of the human race left east Africa more than 55,000 years ago, they unwittingly took with them the human pathogen Helicobacter pylori, most commonly associated with peptic ulcers and stomach cancer, said an international consortium including Baylor College of Medicine researchers in a report in today's issue of the journal Nature.

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) today welcomes the announcement of additional topics for its forward work programme. Topics including new treatments for breast and lung cancer, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, obesity and rheumatoid arthritis, have been referred to NICE by the Secretary of State for Health and the Welsh Assembly Government in line with the national priorities they have established for the NHS.
