  • Teriparatide for Bone Loss in the Jaw

    Because teriparatide is a medication that exerts anabolic effects on bone, it has been suggested that this drug might be beneficial in situations in which stimulation of bone repair is desired. This small trial provides preliminary evidence that an agent that stimulates bone formation might confer additional benefit over that achieved with standard care in patients with severe periodontitis.

  • Obesity increases risk of periodontal disease in teens

    Teens with obesity are at increased risk of developing periodontal disease as a result of inflammation of the gums. This according to a study from Karolinska Institutet, recently published in International Journal of Pediatric Obesity.
