Prosthesis infections are one of the most frustrating and long-to-solve problems, so it is obvious that we try to prevent it in any way. Under this perspective, it is a habit to give antibiotics to patients carrying endoprosthesis in case of dental surgeries which can possibly cause bacteriemia.

Because teriparatide is a medication that exerts anabolic effects on bone, it has been suggested that this drug might be beneficial in situations in which stimulation of bone repair is desired.
This small trial provides preliminary evidence that an agent that stimulates bone formation might confer additional benefit over that achieved with standard care in patients with severe periodontitis.
