Combination therapy with valsartan/hydrochlorothiazide in severe hypertension

Initial therapy with valsartan/HCTZ in patients with severe hypertension is effective and well tolerated. These are the conclusions of a double-blind, multicenter, forced titration study evaluating the therapeutic efficacy and tolerability of initial treatment with the combination of valsartan and hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) compared with valsartan monotherapy in patients with severe hypertension.
